postdocs @ the lab
Students with background in biology, psychology, biomedical sciences or engineering can complete MSc theses, PhDs or postdocs within one of the groups of the Sleep and Chronobiology Lab. These can be conducted in co-supervision with neuropsychologists, engineers or MDs of the GIGA-Research or of other Research Unit @ ULiege.
Current topics of project research are
- changes in sleep and wakefulness in aging and their relationship with cognition. The techniques used are: structural MRI, TMS-EEG and neuropsychological testing.
- genetic variations associated with different sleep or wake traits (whole genome association with sleep characteristic/cognitive vulnerability to sleep loss). The techniques used are: MRI/DTI, EEG, TMS-EEG and neuropsychological testing
- impact of different sleep phenotypes such as napping on cognitive and brain function
- in-situ rest-activity patterns using actimetry data
- development of analysis tools for [1] actimetry data (https://github.com/ghammad/pyActigraphy) and electroencephalogram signals. Neural mass modelling of EEG signal.
- brain structure characteristics associated with primary insomnia, multiple scerosis, stroke recovery. Technique used: MRI/DTI and EEG
We do not supply financial support to MSc students.
We can assist PhD candidates in applying for bursaries. Several calls are possible for instance at FNRS (http://www.frs-fnrs.be/), ULg (www.ulg.ac.be), Leon Frédéricq Foundation (http://www.fondsleonfredericq.be/).
We can assist postdoc candidates in applying for bursaries. Several calls are possible for instance at FNRS (http://www.frs-fnrs.be/), ULg (www.ulg.ac.be), AXA research fund (https://www.axa-research.org/), EU (http://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/).
When available we support PhD theses or Postdocs on funds granted to the Sleep and Chronobiology Lab
